Community Service - This is another photo taken at the food drive. My friends and I had a break in between distribution times and we snapped this photo here. We were holding the food that we distributed with my potato, a green apple, and an orange.
Importance of Religious Freedom
Religious Freedom frees us from being forced to follow religions that we don’t want to. It is important because God made us to be free. Religious freedom is important because it can affect people’s behavior whether it makes them happy or sad. It can also cause conflict if some people do not like that there is no religious freedom. God gave us freedom in the world and it is not fair that some do not have the right to religious freedom. Freedom of religion lets people express themselves and be happy. With it, they can be their true self and make peace. Some do not have religious freedom due to their rulers or government. Those people may not be happy and feel oppressed. Oppression may cause the people to rise up and revolt against the lack of freedom. Conflict can get serious especially for religious freedom, regardless of the fact that fighting may not solve anything. Freedom may also change how people act and live. People who do have the right may feel free and happy and can live great lives. They can live worry and anxiety free lives because they can practice their own religion without anyone stopping them. Peace is another factor of religious freedom. There may be plenty of peace with freedom, while if there is no freedom, people may lack peace. Freedom of religion is important because of the people. Their acts, lives, and moods may be affected with or without religion. Peace or conflict may arise if there is or is no religious freedom. If there is more freedom, it can let us live without trouble and fairly. The importance of religious freedom is that God let us live freely, and that right is not to be taken away. |
Importance of Religious Freedom Essay Contest - We had a contest to write an essay that states the importance of religious freedom. It included how God wants us to be free, people's happiness and behavior, and how they live. I was chosen as one of the best essays to go forward in the contest.

Community Service - For community service in 8th grade, I help at San Francisco Community Fellowship. There we pass out food to the visitors and help help around. The main tasks we do is pass out food and break boxes when the boxes of foods are empty. All the volunteers are friendly and welcoming and they make it feel like home. It is a fun but tiring experience and I love going there with friends.
Community Service Form - This is the form that Paul Jr., our advisor, signed to confirm our community service hours at the San Francisco Community Fellowship Food Pantry. I did a total of twenty hours at the food pantry and I had a lot of fun doing it with friends.
Community Service Response Form - This form was a self-reflection piece about my time during community service. It was for me to write down the things I did there and what it did to help the community. I wrote that I volunteered ant the food pantry at a Church and we unpacked boxes full of food to later give to visitors. I usually do the transporting and breaking of boxes there but sometimes I get to give the food away. It helps the community because people who don't have enough money to buy groceries themselves can come and get fresh food at the food pantry.
Lone Survivor
By Patrick Robinson and Marcus Luttrell The rugged Afghanistan mountains as I look down my sight is where my team and I were found in a giant fight Murphy, Axe, Dietz, and I were loaded with lots of things to wine, dine, and intertwine in Operation Red Wings The shepherds came and compromised our position but we were told to let them go to save our ammunition We let them free but it was a mistake they spoke to the Taliban and they want our lives to take The fighting went on the enemy pushed deeper I held them back my best I am the reaper We were tired and wounded as guns emit bullets and light before Murphy runs through the battlefield he says “Never out of the fight.” Helicopters flew past one by one no contact to trifle But God’s looking out for us as I find my rifle I was the only one left the navy SEAL diver the afghan villagers hid me as the lone survivor They fought for me as volunteers to keep me safe body’s drop along with tears Support has come For immediate evac so many harsh days you’re about to get contact I am Marcus Luttrell part of the op and fought to the fullest and I learned never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet |

Born Worker Speech - We have read the short story Born Worker by Gary Soto and we had to make up a speech the main character would say at an 8th grade graduation. Since the main character was very courageous and kind, I thought of short but meaningful sentences for the speech, just like something he would have said. My speech was modeled after Shane Patton's speech from the movie Lone Survivor.

Born Worker Life is a job, you have to work hard to get your paycheck. That paycheck is happiness, love, life. You work through life to earn these rewards, and you work hard. Stay on your game, and keep doing what you’re doing. Love what is lovely and do what you love. Just keep swimming and swim forward. Do not stop, keep your head up, or go down when it drops. Learning will get you through life, stop learning and you would stop yearning what you’re searching for. As we move on, we pack our bags with nothing but memories and our mind. We take the plane towards that paycheck. Dream the wildest dream you can dream of and work to achieve that dream. Your mind will be the weary traveller that walks beside you up the mountain. Be wise; don’t let other guys ruin your own surprise in life. Don’t answer a question with a question. Accept things even if they are not good, and instead of complaining, try to fix it yourself. If it’s not broken, then keep on fixing it until its better. Your brain is the knife you use in the field; it can be handy when working and you have power with it. Always make good decisions, and if you don’t, make the bad into a good one. If things seem impossible, make them possible. Keep climbing up that telephone pole and view everything. |
Memory Book Cover Page - Our group were commissioned to design a cover page for the memory book for the 2014-2015 school year. We decided to create the shape of an eagle and fill it in with words that describe us as a school. Our group worked together and implemented our own styles of art and color and this is our finished product which is going to be the front cover of the memory book.
